These are 2 different types of devices. The flat ones are motion sensors, the round ones are presence sensors.
Presence sensors are ceiling-mounted and much more sensitive that the simple motion sensors.
But even presence sensors can not detect a non-moving subject after a while, so don’t rely on them to much.
