Sinn3r sorry if I’m only answering you now but I’ve had busy days at work.
I did other tests and this morning I managed to make the procedure work, unfortunately in the translation I had misunderstood a passage and I couldn’t make it work.

I can confirm that it works and that you can import projects from the old ETS5 without a license. Thanks again for your support and help, you have been very kind and extremely helpful.

I’d try again by modifying the unlicensed ETS5 knxproj files and them importing them into the licensed ETS6

Thanks for the answer Sinn3r, yes I tried that procedure, I can see the licensed projects on ETS6, but the Duplicate icon remains gray and I can’t proceed.

The procedure I did is this, having ETS6 with a license, I first downloaded ETS6 without a license, I downloaded all the projects coming from ETS5 without a license, converting them and then I performed the procedure indicated on the forum.

But nothing the Duplicate button remains gray and I can’t go further, I’m also trying to recover a licensed ETS5 to try to convert the files directly with that.

But so far the search has been in vain.

            @Antony.89
Did you try the dummy file way to import the file from an unlicensed ETS to a licensed ETS6?
            See https://www.roelbroersma.nl/forums/topic/ets-6-download/page/2/#post-33464
            Should work.

Hi I’m a new member, primarily asdfasdfasd for the excellent work and for sharing everything with the forum. And I congratulate the creators of the forum, which I have found very useful and interesting on many subjects.

Also I wanted to ask if anyone had found a way to be able to switch projects from an unlicensed ETS6 to a licensed one.
I should recover 4-5 projects I had on ETS5, they managed to pass them without problems on ETS6 without a license but I can’t pass them on ETS6 with a license, does anyone have any tips?

I’ve already read some forum pages and tried some of your suggestions including the method that worked with ETS5 but doesn’t seem to work on 6, unfortunately.

Do you have any advice on the matter?

Sorry, my English is not very good and I got help from google translate.

Just to clarify: are you trying to import a .knxproj file or have you copied the folder structure?
It kinda looks like it could be a plugin issue. If you remember which devices you used in your project that needed the installation of a plugin, I’d recommend creating a new project where you import those devices, which leads to the installation of the respective plugins. Some plugins older projects of mine still need are working with DNF 1.1, so it isn’t necessary a issue with ets, but with a plugin.

                  Hello there,

i have a question i guess i cannot ask in a KNX user forum.

I rund ETS 5.7.2 + fix on a virtual machine. Unfortunatel i deleted it, but i have a plenty of backups containing each increment i made.
My current problem: I don’t get ETS running anymore, or to be more detailled, i can’t import any of my latest backups on a re-installation, even with using the same installation files + fix.

But i’m not sure if it isn’t a problem of Dot Net Framework (I will abbreviate it as “DNF”). At least google brings a lot of matches menntioning DNF when searching for:

“Ein Aufrufziel hat einen Ausnahmefehler verursacht.” respectivly “Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.”

Unfortunately I cannot remember the version of DNF that was installed on VM. What i can say, DNF V4.6.1 included in ETS572 setup does not work.
It even cannot be installed as the download link used seems can’t be called from setup. So in installed this version manually.

It still can’t import backups of my knx project on a blank VM where only ETS is installed
It also can’t be read on another VM witch ETS updatet from 505 to 572, as i guess to remember that i did it the same update with the VM i deleted.
But what’s suspecious, with this V505-V572 installation i can import backups of V566 i used in the meantime (until i got errors while adding new products to my project, which forced me to update to V566+fix and lateron V572).

Does someone know this error message?

Hmm, not sure what you mean.
ETS is for installation only, you don’t use it later to run your KNX.
The KNX router/interface and you BAOS can transfer data from LAN to KNX using some library or with the BAOS by using simple webservices, that need no library at all.

                        Node-RED <> node.js
Node-RED is a graphical logic software, that has alot of plugins and also some KNX plugins. The KNX plugin communicates with the IP router/interface to exchange data with the bus, no BAOS needed.
There are alot of different projects to build own KNX connected devices, which is not hard to do at all, but these devices don’t integrate with ETS for configuration, as you need an expensive license from KNX.org for that.

Sorry I have no idea about ABB fancoil modules, only regular floorheating here, which is very simple to integrate. I even skipped room contollers and only set the heating temperatures of the different rooms with Homeserver QuadClient, as you do not change this very often at all.
My air conditioning devices don’t have any KNX interfaces but WLAN and are integrated in ioBroker, which is connected to KNX with Node-RED.

I have an original HomeServer 4 with IP KNX interface and cables going to every wall where you would expect an old fashioned light switch. However, the house is not smart.

Is there anyway to have Gira Homeserver talk to zigbee devices? I would like to use Philips Hue lights + Hue motion sensors, smart thermostats, Ikea wireless remotes + curtain motors etc.
Some of the things I want (like motion sensors, door locks etc.) Gira only sells wired and at a ridiculous price.

Has anyone managed to add zigbee to HomeServer4 ? Or is my only hope to migrate (re-build) the entire Gira system on something smarter like HomeAssistant where I can add zigbee? The system is quite big / complicated, 28 rooms with several hundred lightbulbs, socket outlets, garden lighting, mechanic ventilation. alarm system etc. all hooked up to it).

Alternatively I could try and see if I can get HomeAssistant to talk to Gira HomeServer and make it smarter but that would leave me with 2 home automation servers.

                          Thanks!

I have a ETS6 license, but cannot import my ETS5 for the license issue :(

It’s not always clear what you really mean, may be because of the double translation?
What exactly is hard to understand? You mean the actors? It’s always a very good idea to totally read and understand the manual of each actor. When mixing different vendors it’s not always the same “style” of naming and parameterization. That’s why I personally like MDT very much, as the manual is written in a very understandable way and there are always good usage examples included.
                              Or do you mean ETS?

Some IP routers/interfaces also can send date/time from an NTP server to the bus, but yours cannot do this, as it’s primarily not an IP router but an object server that doubles as an IP router. And afaik the software of this device doesn’t offer much beyond that.

In ETS open a diagnostics window and select the group monitor. There you can send values to your group addresses to simulate time.

Home Assistant may also be able to send date/time to the bus, but I think you need to create some logic to do so, as HA is not a real KNX supervisor (as you call it), but some multifunctinal software that can also connect to KNX.
Homeserver is a real KNX supervisor, as it’s made just for this. It can send date/time to the bus by default.

Yes, ETS provides functionality to send/set values.
